How to get to paxos

Paxos does not have an airport so most visitors fly to island of Corfu and then transfer by hydrofoil, sea taxi or ferry on Paxos . Corfu has only one airport, called ‘Kerkyra’ or ‘Kapodistrias’ with flight code CFU, located close to Corfu Town.

Between the months of April until late October you can fly direct to Corfu from most European air ports. The most popular charter flights to Corfu are Mondays and Fridays. Early morning departures are required to avoid missing the last hydrofoil. There is also a daily domestic service from Athens.

You may find there is a gap between transfers but facilities at the harbor are excellent, with a left luggage option and a comfortable café/bar.

Easy steps to organize your transfer from Corfu to Paxos and vice versa

1. You contact our representative in Corfu and you inform them about your flight details, at least 4 weeks before your arrival, so that boat seats can be confirmed. This is particularly important in high season (July/August) when demand is high. You must tell them that you have booked your accommodation in Paxos with Thalassa Travel, because they will forward us all your details. Then, they will take care of your transfer in Corfu. That means:

a. Being met by our representative at Corfu airport

b. Taxi or minibus to the new port (approx.. 10min.) where you will be met again

c. Hydrofoil or Passenger boat tickets, to Gaios, Paxos (approx 1 hour or 1 1/2 hour with passenger boat journey) or,

d. Sea taxi from Corfu to Paxos. Sea Taxi is recommended if your flight to Corfu is late at evening and you do not want to stay over night in Corfu*. Depending on the day you book and the available space in the port that period, you can reach by sea taxi Gaios, Lakka and Loggos.

2. Taxi in Paxos from the port to your accommodation.

a. You can book your own the taxi** in Paxos by calling the taxi driver and tell them the date, and which boat you will take from Corfu (name of boat and time from Corfu). You must book in advance because there are only 5 taxis in Paxos. This way you will pay the taxi driver in cash on the day and the cost will be a little cheaper than booking the taxi through Thalassa Travel (the taxi drivers charge us more expensive in order to book in advance)

b. We can book your taxi from Paxos port to your accommodation and vice versa. This way you will pay your taxi in cash to our office in Loggos, and there is an extra charge of 6 euro.

Make it on your own way!

You can make your own way if you prefer but if you do, we strongly advise you booking your hydrofoil tickets in advance and be prepared for a long wait for a taxi in Paxos (unless you book in advance).

If you are making your own way and have not book our transfer, there are several possible options to get on Paxos.

On arriving at Corfu airport just go out to the taxi rank outside arrivals & take a taxi from there. There are usually several taxis available (travel time 8-15mins)

If you are going to Paxos same day you should ask the taxi driver to take you to Sette Venti Caffe at the new port. This is where all hydrofoils, boats & ferries depart from (from the “rear/sea” side of the café). At Sette Venti Caffe, there is a left luggage store there where you can put your bags in & wander into Corfu town if you have time.

Private 24hr sea taxis:

If your flight to Corfu is late at evening, you may decide to book a sea taxi. There are 3 private sea taxis operating in Paxos. All of them are 24hr & will take up to 10 persons. They are generally 330€ each way for Corfu to Paxos, but if there are others you share the cost, if you are alone expect to pay 330€. Very useful for out of hours transfers or large groups or when shared. Normally if there is no option of hydrofoil or Despina on that particular day,nthere are always others on the sea taxi so don’t be put off by the cost.

If you are travelling overland by car .From Igoumenitsa port (on mainland). You have several departure ports in Italy – Venice, Ancona, Bari and Brindisi from where main shipping lines sail to Corfu and Igoumenitsa.
