Paxos Lakka’s annual 3 day Christmas fair took place this weekend, the 5th consecutive year this event has occurred. Lakka’s local people organize this in their own time to bring joy to the local children and for all of us get us in to the Christmas and holiday spirit! Three full days of non-stop music, games, treasure hunts, a magician and fireworks.
The first day we start with the children’s music band playing Christmas carols and lighting the tree while looking up at the fabulous fireworks . Stalls are full of handmade gifts made by the school children as well mulled wine, souvlaki, traditional loukoumades (donuts) and Christmas cakes.
The next two days, from 10am through to 10pm offer non-stop entertainment for the children including treasure hunts, face painting, magicians, trampolines, shadow puppet theatre, music and dancing. And the local bars and coffee shops are open to keep the adults happy! The event was started 5 years ago and has quickly become part of the islands traditional celebrations. We would like to say a big thank you to all the volunteers and that gave their time to put on this special event, we are already looking forward to next year!
